What we are looking for? 

Council is looking for an Open Space Maintenance Officer to join our Parks and Vegetation team. The role is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of Parks and Reserves through the application of horticulture & lawn maintenance skills and utilisation of horticultural specific plant and equipment.

Your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Carry out lawn maintenance, renewal and renovation works in accordance to work programs
  • Provide horticultural maintenance techniques that enhance and improve our parks and gardens
  • Lead by example by applying your horticultural knowledge
  • Undertake basic audits and risk assessments and assist the Team Leader in implementing solutions to ensure safety risks are identified and rectified
  • Assist in carrying out any necessary cleansing activities in parks and reserves including collection of litter and reporting of graffiti and vandalism

This role is a full time role working 38 hours per week.

About you

  • Experience maintaining horticultural, lawn and open space areas in parks, sporting reserves, recreation areas
  • Experience operating lawn and horticultural maintenance equipment such as tractors, ride on mowers, hedge trimmers, brush cutters and associated horticultural maintenance hand tools
  • A current Victorian Drives Licence
  • A strong understanding of safe work practices

Whilst not essential to the role, holding  an ACUP Certificate (Agricultural Chemical Users Certificate) and a Medium Rigid Truck Licence (manual transmission) would be highly regarded.

This position is a Band 2 currently remunerated between $61,852 to $63,644 per annum, plus superannuation.
