About the position

Council’s Arts & Culture Department (Libraries) is looking for a Collections Team Leader who will be responsible for leading the development and management of the library collections to meet the diverse and evolving needs of the Frankston community.

The main responsibilities will include: 

  • Guide and mentor the Library Collections Team, promoting a culture of professional growth, teamwork, and shared accountability. Conduct regular team meetings to align goals, share best practices, and foster innovation
  • Oversee the acquisition, organization, maintenance, and evaluation of both physical and digital library collections, ensuring they reflect community interests and current trends. Implement regular assessments to enhance collection relevance and accessibility.
  • Participate in the Libraries’ leadership team to contribute to strategic planning processes. Assist in developing and reviewing polices relating to collection management.

This is a permanent ongoing full time position, 38 hours per week.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in using current technologies, especially Library Management Systems (LMS) and collection management tools.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for implementing innovative collection development ideas and strategies that keep the library at the forefront of technology and user engagement, including digital resources and multimedia content.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with team members, library patrons, and community partners, alongside delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Comprehensive understanding of collection development principles, trends, and best practices.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Library and Information Science or a related field, along with eligibility for professional membership in the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).

This position is a Band 6A currently remunerated at $98,130 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
