About the position

Council’s Family Health Support Service Department is looking for a casual facilitator of the Baby Makes 3 program.

Baby Makes 3 is a group program for first-time parents that promotes equal and respectful relationships between men and women during the transition to parenthood. This program forms part of Frankston City Council’s Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service’s First-Time Parent Group program.

Baby Makes 3 is a series of two, 2.5 - 3 hour evening sessions co-facilitated by a pair of male and female facilitators. Facilitators present information and guide participants through discussions and activities, as a large group and as smaller groups of mothers and fathers separately. The strength of the program lies in the group work approach, where parents are able to see that their experiences and challenges are shared by others.

The program covers topics including:

  • Societal expectations
  • Gender roles
  • Division of labour
  • Meaningful equality
  • Sex and intimacy
  • Communication
  • Dealing with conflict

Successful applicants will be required to undertake Baby Makes 3 Facilitator training, which will be provided via Frankston City Council and accredited by healthAbility. Training and facilitator competency accreditation must be achieved prior to any group facilitation.
