About the position

Council’s Community Strengthening Department is looking for a Community Development Officer. for one of our community centres. The main responsibilities for this position will include: 

  • Engaging community, particularly marginalised and hard to reach residents to understand aspirations and needs.
  • Delivering responsive programs, activities, and events, with ongoing planning and evaluation.
  • Developing strong and positive partnerships with community, organisations and government to achieve objectives.

 

About you

  • Strong community engagement skills with ability to build trust and lasting relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience in community development with a good understanding of principles and practice. 
  • Ability to design and deliver inclusive programs that respond local needs and aspirations.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Well-developed communication skills with ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

This position is a Band 5 currently remunerated at $82,567.33 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
