About the position

Council’s Safer Communities Department is looking for expressions of interest to join the School Crossings team who will be responsible for position objective.

The main responsibilities will include: 

  • Operate school crossings in accordance with VicRoads 'Instructions for Children's Crossing Supervisors'
  • Consider traffic needs to ensure safe traffic flow and reduce congestion
  • Attend training sessions as required


This is a casual role working up to a maximum of 10 hours per week on school days.

About you

  • Availability to work morning and afternoon shifts during school terms for a maximum of 2 hours per day
  • Good communication skills and previous experience working with children or the general public
  • Ability to endure the outdoor weather conditions wearing appropriate PPE
  • Ability to stand for a minimum of one hour twice per day
  • Have a current mobile phone, Victorian Drivers Licence and use of a reliable vehicle
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Police Check, Employee Working with Children Check and physical assessment designed around operating crossings

This position is a Band 1A currently remunerated at $40.80 per hour plus industry allowance and superannuation.
