About the position

Council’s Engineering Services Department is looking for a Senior Drainage Engineer who will be a registered professional engineer responsible for providing engineering support and coordination in the management of strategic stormwater drainage services and drainage management including flood management in the Frankston municipality.

The main responsibilities will include: 

  • Developing and recommending a rolling stormwater drainage upgrade program, and new projects into Council's Capital Works Program on a priority basis that is continually monitored and updated. Appropriate forward planning and scoping of projects will be required to ensure design plans are available prior to the anticipated construction year(s) ensuring the delivery of allocated projects.
  • Undertaking stormwater drainage investigations and providing recommended solutions for drainage matters, including capacity and stormwater quality matters.
  • Reviewing Council's stormwater drainage network to determine and clarify responsibility of stormwater drainage assets between relevant stakeholders, as well as to represent Council in the process of clarifying these responsibilities in agreements.
  • Develop strategies to address long-term drainage issues including flood management for the municipality.

About you

  • Extensive experience and understanding of water and drainage management including legislation and regulation requirements that impact on the provision of subdivisions & private development.
  • Knowledge of flood mapping and modelling, catchment hydrology, water sensitive urban design and integrated water cycle management principles.
  • Current relevant registration in accordance with Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019.

This position is a Band 7A currently remunerated at $109,416.26 per annum, plus superannuation.
