About the position
The main responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic leadership, policy advice and operational guidance across Council’s sport and recreation portfolio, including overseeing programs and priorities aligned with Council’s endorsed strategic plans;
- Leading evidence-based research, policy development and place-based planning to support accessible and sustainable sport and recreation opportunities;
- Managing relationships with government agencies, peak sporting bodies, clubs, associations, recreation providers and community stakeholders;
- Overseeing the planning and development of recreational facilities, preparation of funding submissions and management of relevant contracts, tenancies and reserve allocations; and
- Leading and supporting recreation staff, managing budgets and resources, and proactively resolving complex issues relating to club governance, operations, tenancies and stakeholder relationships.
This is a permanent full time position, working 38 hours per week.
About you
- A relevant tertiary qualification in sport and recreation, recreation planning or a related field;
- Significant experience in recreation planning, policy development, project delivery and team leadership;
- Strong strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex issues and competing priorities;
- Proven experience engaging, influencing and building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and recommendation;
- A commitment to inclusion, equity and community outcomes; and
- A current Victorian Driver Licence.

This position is a Band 8A currently remunerated at $129,722.61 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
