About the position 

Council’s Business & Information Technology Department is looking for a GIS Officer who will be responsible for:

  • Providing responsive GIS support and advice to Council staff, acting as the primary point of contact for GIS issues. 
  • Maintaining accurate, reliable spatial data and metadata, ensuring quality standards, procedures and business rules are followed. 
  • Administering and improving Council’s enterprise GIS, including the rollout and support of QGIS, training and user documentation. 
  • Supporting mobile GIS and GIS platform upgrades (e.g. IntraMaps/Maps Manager and SQL), including layers, tables and spatial data uploads. g

 

About you 

We are looking for a proactive GIS professional who:

  • Combines technical capability with strong customer service and problem-solving skills. 
  • Holds relevant IT qualifications, GIS certifications and/or demonstrated experience in a similar GIS/geospatial role. 
  • Has strong working knowledge of GIS platforms and spatial data management (e.g. QGIS, MapInfo, IntraMaps and mobile GIS). 
  • Hs working knowledge of SQL Server/SSMS (or similar spatial relational databases) and confidence handling data and map requests. 
  • Has clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate, manage priorities and train non-GIS users.

This position is a Band 6A currently remunerated at $100,338.66 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
